Adaptive suspension: knocking sounds over minor bumps. Since I got the car end of December, I noticed a mild knocking sound when going over minor bumps on the road. It sounds like a loose exhaust mounting, or even like worn ball-joints on an old car, albeit quieter than that.
Took my car in to the dealer today for them to look over, expecting it to be a case of a missing exhaust mouth or two. The drew a blank on that and want the car back in two weeks to look at suspension. Not worried, as I'm sure they'll fix it but has anyone else heard of this or experienced it?

I did think it was luggage in boot but tonight thought that it appears too prominent for that I havnt emptied the boot to check yet, havnt had chance You mention adaptive suspension. Mine seems former in sport compared to comfort but didn't think it had adaptive or do they all seem firmer?

I have a i e My problems all started when I noticed that on some occasions I should have idle issues. I checked the DISA valve on my intake and saw that there was not flap in place.
I assumed that the previous owner removed the flap if the unit was faulty. Anyway, I purchased a second hand unit and the car seemed to run fine for a day or so. Then, I noticed that the car started to misfire and there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. The knocks increased with revs. Upon further inspection, I noticed that it was coming from the valvetronic motor.
The first thing I looked for was air leaks but could not find any.

So I pulled the intake manifold off to have a better look and found the broken flap from the first disa valve. I could not find the pin however. I have changed the gaskets on the intake and the throttle body. Another issue though What should I look at next.

Sounds like your engine may have eaten some bits it's not suppose to!The cause is due to excessive movement between the internal gear components of the steering rack which requires a brand new replacement BMW steering rack or the existing steering rack repaired.
The electrical components of the steering rack are not touched so this service will not help if the steering system has fault codes or there are any steering warning lights on the dash.
