Max Raid Battles are a multiplayer feature that utilises the Dynamax Feature. This is due to each den pulling two different encounter possibilities: A common set and a rare set. This can be done locally or online, but if three more players can't be found, Support Trainers will be added, controlled by NPCs.
You can also trigger max Raid Battles yourself using Wishing Piece items that you can purchase in the Wild Area and as stated before, by clearing out the existing raids. Max Raid Battles have some limits. As you progress through the game you'll see more higher level Raids and less lower level Raids.
The battling is done in a unique way. However, only one player can Dynamax and the player that can Dynamax rotates every turn. The Dynamax Raid Boss can also unleash multiple attacks in a turn, including attacks that are not Max Moves.
When its HP reaches a certain amount, it will also unleash a protection guard. All damaging attacks will take off at least one bar with Max Moves taking off two. Depending on the move strength, some minimal damage will be done despite the shield. However, if you access say a Level 5 raid when you are at the start of the game, the level will be scaled down to match your highest catchable level. However, if you go online or play with other players locally this changes.
All the Balls will have the usual effect. From time to time, there will be special events held in the Wild Area. These can be accessed through the Mystery Gift function and will add more possible den combinations. If you're unable to find any players locally or online to play against, you don't need to skip Max Raid Battles. Some are more support focused while others are damaging. Their level scales with you. Some moves won't work in Max Raid Battles Name. The user bites the target. If the target is holding a Berry, the user eats it and gains its effect. Its chance of failing rises if it is used in succession. The user attacks everything around it by causing a tremendous explosion.

Max raids completed: 90 Dynamix pokemon caught with hidden ability: 5 there were a few pokemon caught with no hidden ability at all so that reduces the pool to about 85ish.
I'll have to go through my collection again for exact stats. So in my case I am trying to get a durant with truant. I would need to encounter roughly on average 20 durants from max raids to get it with truant.

I did realize the Gyarados I got recently had Moxie though. I noticed it during the raid, but I didn't pay it any mind, honestly. Something to consider, by the way: perhaps the odds go up with higher star difficulty, and it may go up again with hitting particular milestones, like reaching the end credits or resolving the postgame chapter. Certainly, I found it odd that they'd give me a 5-star raid for Onix and not Steelix.

By hitting Y you will get into the online menu, and by pressing Plus you will switch to the internet for connectivity.
This is the essential first step to getting more stamps, which are how players reach out to each other. Once you connect to the internet, your stamps will be displayed on the right. They should auto fill somewhat, and pressing right then X might refresh them. However, the game likes to not offer this as much as players will surely want, so you need to use some tricks. Select this option from the menu, and follow the prompts. But setting this up should either refresh your stamps or let you do so manually once you press right on the Y menu.
Once you have a set of stamps you can scroll through them for whatever you want. Most will want raids, so keep reading for more tips on that. When this spot gives off a pillar of light, it means a Dynamax Pokemon is hiding there. Approaching the Pokemon Den and interacting with it will let you challenge the Dynamax Pokemon inside, which will vary by species and strength based on location and weather. You won't know exactly what the Pokemon inside is, but you'll be given a shadow outline of that Pokemon as well as its type. Above this you'll see a rating of difficulty of the Pokemon from stars. Once you defeat the Dynamax Pokemonyou'll have a chance to catch it!
These Pokemon have a chance to have that species' Hidden Ability, or be able to transform into its Gigantamax form, and can be especially strong. You can either invite others to battle this large Pokemon with other actual players, or you can choose not to, and will be given some random NPCs to fight with.
Max Raid Battles enable you to team up with up to three other players either locally or online. Remember, to connect with other Trainers online, you will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. The subscription isn't needed to play with others locally. Don't worry, if you don't have enough players to fill your party, Pokemon Sword and Shield will automatically fill the extra spots with support NPCs, though these aren't the most reliable partners.
The benefit of using actual players to help you is they'll type match hopefully against whatever Pokemon you're facing, where you'll be lucky to get a type match with the random NPCs. Sometimes you'll happen upon a den with no Pokemon in it, especially if you've already battled the Pokemon that was in there previously. To fill the den you can get a Pokemon to appear by using a Wishing Piece. These are sold at the Watt Traders fro 3, Watts each, a pretty hefty price.
After purchasing it, approach the empty den where you'll be prompted if you wish to throw the Wishing Piece in, selecting yes will make a random Pokemon appear in the den. This section covers all the tips and tricks you'll need to know to complete Max Raid Battles. Some Pokemon can only be caught by finding them in a Max Raid Battle.
Pokemon that can Gigantamax can only be obtained by facing them in a Max Raid Battle, unless they're a special Event Pokemon.
